Another week gone, where does the time go these days? Not much of note during the week - apart, of course, from the Chelsea-Barcelona match, which had Katie and me in tears!! We was robbed ... and yeah, Drogba is an idiot. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
Got a few bits and pieces done work-wise, but am feeling unmotivated again. Some weeks I get really excited about what I do and love it, and other weeks I could jsut dump the magazine in a jot. This was one of those weeks. Mainl;y it's because, despite all my hard work, the magazine is still not making a profit, in fact over the last year it's got me into about £3500 worth of debt through me paying for printing on the credit card, and even now I owe the printers £400 - and have to have another £1400 in the bank in a fortnight to pay for the next lot of printing. Can't honestly see it lasting much longer, which will be a shame. In desperation I've emailed all my advertisers, contributors and readers on the mailing list and asked them to nominate it as Best British Local Business in the competition that The Sun and Barclays are running - top prize is £20,000 plus 9 regional prizes of £5000 plus other bits and pieces.Quite a few of them have nominated - so it's worth a go. Did I mention that we'd managed to get two tickets for Radio One's Big Weekend in Swindon? We made loads of applications using all our email addresses and typically it was Dan who was sent a pair of tickets for Saturday!! He wasn't fussed about going but Katie, being only 15, was too young to go on her own - but I couldn't take her and leave Dan on his own all day, and my mum is on holiday (Steve did actually say he would have Dan if necessary, bless him ...) After appealing unsuccessfully on Facebook and Twitter for someone to escort her and a friend in, she ended up asking Marting, the boy from holiday, as he is 17 but looks older. Anyway, they managed to get in without any trouble and had a fantastic day yesterday, seeing Snow Patrol (jealous!), The Script, Dizzee Rascal and lots more bands. She's so grown up - she's very sensible (more so than Martin!) but I couldn't help worrying all day yesterday about them being there alone, and was panicking when I hadn't heard from her that she was on the bus back to the station ... but all went well, I picked them up at about 11ish and was roundly laughed at for worrying!! I'm becoming more and more redundant these days ...
(Someone asked about Drummer .... no, katie and Drummer aren't going out again but amazingly they are very good friends still. I don't think Katie and Martin are going out either - he thinks the world of her and she's fond of him but they're friends rather than b/f / g/f)
Dan has had a bit of a rough week, had some trouble with a boy down the road who keep stirring things and got his uncle involved who threatened Dan and was generally unpleasant. Then Dan got into a fight with another boy on Friday - I'd gone over to the rifle range and got a panicked call from katie so had to go home without shooting, which was a bummer. Will habve to keep a close eye on him for a while.
Steve was over at the weekend, we didn't do a lot - dined out in style at KFC, grabbed a quick pint, then watched telly. I was planning on cooking spag bol but he fancied meatballs, so disappeared into my kitchen and did us dinner, which was lovely. Today we had a very lazy lie in, then I did us all a fried breakfast and we watched the Grand Prix. All very relaxed and comfortable. He fits into our life very easily, doesn't get fazed by the kids, doesn't expect anything of me, cooks wonderfully, thinks I'm gorgeous, is fab in bed (though doesn't seem to think sex is the be all and end all, unlike previous partners) buys be flowers and wine and is all round wonderful! We are off to Wembley next weekend, to see his team (Torquay) in the Conference play off final.
A year an a day since I left U and we moved in here. Blimey.
