Making the right choices
My first official entry and it has to be about work! Oh well.
Sometimes in life we move on from old to new, whether it's school, work, apartments or significant others. I made one of those moves back in May, 2006 (and another in October but won't discuss that one for now). Wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do BUT as we're approaching the year end, I am coming to realize that it's one of the best decisions I have ever made.
My old job made me miserable and grouchy. I had to deal with corporate politics and work crazy hours. I became intertwined with making money and as much of it as possible. I forgot the eye opening experience that I had in Spain back in 2002 that life was not all about that. At some point in March I decided to let it all go and get back to job hunting and just go somewhere else, anywhere. I never thought I'll luck out as much as I did.
My current job makes me appreciate what we do as a company and how many lives we do actually change day to day from our volunteering and philanthropic activities. I just found out that we'll be having a volunteer abroad programs in various Asian countries starting 2007 and I am totally looking forward to applying to one of those.
I don't think i'll ever be able to go back to corporate world (at least not the one that doesn't involve consumer products).
