If you don't want to read a rant about the stupidity of municipalities and road construction do not open the cut.
So today on my way to class I was driving down burns street (for those of you not from around my place one part of Burns is closed currently for road repairs after the other street at the intersection was done and the road was damaged.) and there was an ambulance that went speeding past me going the other way, TOWARDS the road blockage. Now there is an industrial area that I thought they were going to so I went along my way. That was until in my rear view I saw that same ambulance like 30s later. The EMS response and the drivers WEREN'T TOLD THE ROAD WAS CLOSE!!!!!! Now, THIS bugs me. People who are there to save your life are not communicated with that roads are closed so that they can get to you the quickest route. That time that they took going down burns, turning around, then back up burns could
have been the difference between life and death for someone. What if it was a fire? What if someone was having a heart attack? What if someone was being beaten by their spouse? What if what if what if? This is a safety hazard for the entire community. I am currently thinking of calling the works department for the municipality of Durham region and lodging a complaint. EMS should be notified, the drivers should be instructed (for those who aren't from the areas in question) how to get around them quickly.
This is really a disgrace on the part of the municipality that they did not think of the safety of their residents and tell the drivers of these emergency vehicles that the road is fucking closed and that they have to go around! This is dumb and something needs to be done about it.
