An update for once...

So I promised to be a better LJ friend....sometimes things never work out the way they are planned...for me they NEVER do. I started back to work on Monday. It's been ok I guess. My knee seems to be holding it's own. I can walk on it now pretty much without the help of anything, UNLESS I've been sitting for a while. Then it gets stiff, and I ( Read more... )

I understand what you are saying. All surgical procedures are awful and having children yourself, I am sure you saw this as horrifying.

However.

My mother never should have had me and she contemplated abortion and someone talked her out of it. So as a result, I sustained years of abuse and suffering at her hands and the hands of others connected with her.

I gladly would have been aborted, I really wouldn't have minded the momentary pain. Better then the 21 years of slow death.

What really disturbs me about this post isn't that I disagree with you. We all have the right to our opinions.

But.

I saw the pictures of your son dressed as a soldier complete with two guns...have you seen what people look like when they are shot or blown up?

It just seems hypocritical. Sorry if this sounds bitchy but it's how I feel.

How can you compare a soldier and the job they do defending our country to the merciless slaughter of innocent, unborn children?

That's the most ridiculous support I've heard for abortion, yet.

Of course it is. It's OK to kill adults and children in war, but not babies.

It is not the intention of soliders to ever kill children. Nor is it the intention to kill innocent adults.

When countries go to war, there are unavoidable acts of tragedy that occur. Yet, a greater good is accomplished by setting free hundreds of thousands that were previously held under severe oppression. This has happened in Iraq most recently, but other places over the course of our history.

However, every day there are thousands of babies killed in the name of convenience. There is no greater good, other than the indulgence of the selfishness of the irresponsible "parents".

P.S. One mans war is another mans mass murder. My point is, it's sick to put a gun in a childs hand real or fake. If abortion is wrong because it's murder and grusome, then so is war.

When countries go to war, the casualties of that war is not called murder, first of all.

When the United States goes to war (and this can be proven historically), it is always to achieve a greater good for ourselves and other countries that we protect. The loss of life in war, while tragic, always secures the lives of many more than are lost.

Again, in the case of abortion, no lives are secured by murdering the unborn (with the exception of the extremely rare case when a mother's life is at stake, and I don't condemn that decision in those cases).

Well, I don't feel the need to have to defend myself or my son against his halloween costume. I know tho, that I NEVER said it was ok to KILL anyone. My son is 3 years old. He has no concept right now what goes on in war...he dosn't have a concept that guns kill. My father is the one that bought his costume, and the guns were just to complete it.

I don't believe in killing to any extent, but I don't see it as being hypocritcal at all, sorry.

See, I have thought a lot about it today...I do believe that it is a choice that everyone makes...or has the right to make...And I am not one that is going to say NO you should NOT do this at any cost. I mean, it's really hard to put into words how I feel about it. I have a lot of mixed feelings, but just seeing that was so horrible. Today it was hard for me to even walk into that room and not think about what I saw.

I'm sorry that you went through all that. And I understand where you are coming from as well. I do believe that there are situations where people should take different measures I guess, even if it means abortion.
