She's getting out. Twenty two long years she spent lusting after those license plates, hoping planes would get delayed eternally, keeping her from having to face that final destination, that uncomfortable space she reluctantly labeled "home." She deserves it. No one else felt the chain gang restrictions, the memories of this place tied to her ankles. No one else suffered the same physically from the geographical tendencies of this inferno, I mean region. She won't look back. So much ahead in the new world with the new life and the new people and the new news; She'll forget everything she knew.
I don't want or expect her to care, but I'll miss her.
