If you want questions, let me know, yadda yadda yadda.... Now on with the show.
1. You've said in the past that writing is what you want to do. What is it that you need to make that your full-time occupation?
In short, time, money, and little bit of luck. I need time to actually write the stories in my head, and time to build up an audience (which I’m working on by selling to smaller magazines and anthologies). I need money to keep the bills covered while I write the stories, since no one in their right mind will pay for unwritten fiction from an unknown author. And I need a little bit of luck to catch the eye of the right editor at the right time, as well as catching the eyes of buying readers who will give me good word of mouth. There’s a ton of fabulous artists out there making bupkiss for the simple fact of not being lucky enough to catch the right eyes (and a fair number of poor to mediocre artists who are making it because they had the luck).
But since I have no rich benefactor to take of the bills, which would give me the time to write, I have to make do with carving time out of my nights and weekends, and contemplating what I need to sacrifice to the gods of luck for the third part of the equation.
2. How do you like the color green?
Lush, rich, and toward the darker end of the spectrum.
3. Do you hope to live in the same house for the rest of your life? Why or why not?
Nope. Don’t get me wrong, I love the house we have (I should since we’ve ponied up for a mortgage). It’s a bit of a construction zone right now, but it’s got good bones and good spirit, and we’re working hard to make it even nicer. But it’s not where we want to make our final landing. We want more land, and other features not available in a town house, which is what we have now. So, in the meantime, we work to make our nest the best it can be and enjoy it, and we also daydream a little about what the perfect place would be like.
4. What's your favorite television channel?
Guh, I dunno. I tend to watch movies more than television, and when I do watch television it’s more program focused rather than channel focused. I love the show Supernatural, but I find just about everything else on the CW network unwatchable. I love Dexter on Showtime, and I was a huge fan of HBO’s Sex in the City back in the day. Grey’s Anatomy on ABC is very good, but I couldn’t tell you a thing about the rest of their lineup.
5. What's for dinner?
Bone-in skinless chicken thighs baked in a creamy garlic sauce with long grain and wild rice and green peas.
