This Have I Done
(11/14/08)
I have seen a new bud on a tree with its colours of Autumn tucked within
I have seen the look of awe on the faces of children as they hear an ancient tale
I have walked upon the land that is the Island of the Blue Dolphins
And I have done more
I have seen the bottom of my personal abyss
I have walked with awe on sacred ground
I have tasted from Chalice Well
And I have done more
I have wept when good friends have wed
I have wept when couplings ended
I have looked with awe upon places of natural wonder
And I have done more
I have raised my fist in anger over impolitic decisions
I have been raised above my own soul by the wonder of historians
I have wondered why I have had to deal with inanities
And I have done more
I have touched the body of my dead father
I have praised the military prowess
I have demanded peace and quiescence
And I have done more
I have seen a frozen waterfall
I have seen bubbles under ice and rain
I have thrown a cat into a deep snowbank
And I have done more
I have given Reno back his heritage
And I have laughed deeply at the Turkey Day Movie Fest
I have demanded rights for my gay friends
And I have done more
I have been an idiot
I have been bigoted
I have wandered between a mother bear and her young
And I have done more
I have wondered why I have done half of what I have done
I have proven myself to be an abject idiot
I have tried to end my existence
And I have done more.
