Today is the anniversary of the official kick-off party for the French Revolution. Much like the date July 4th is not the true beginning of the American Revolution, so too July 14th is a convenient if off demarcation point.

I want to tie some ideas together here, historically and sociologically (sociology, of course, simply being anthropology for Europeans). Yeah, yeah, Angus' hobby horse... ;-)
