Fact:
Don't believe anybody when they tell you that the past is the past, and it stays there, because it's not true. I've said it before as well, and I don't believe it myself. The past is never just the past, and it will never stay in the past. It can never be put behind you. In fact, the past will always be in front of you, telling you what not to do and who not to trust, and it will slap you in the face when you least expect it. .
