I loved it when our friend John invited us for dinner tonight at about 11 o'clock this morning. I hadn't started prepping the pad kee mao I had planned, though I did still go to King Asian and pick up a couple bags of Thai rice flake noodles.
We had lovely, spicy shrimp and cheesy grits, very savory carrots, spicy, garlicky collard greens, and a crisp, lemony salad with apple and jicama. They had stories to tell and so did we. It was a nice evening chez des amis.
