After another poor night's sleep (more on that later), up at 7 to a foot of snow over ice outside. The chickens haven't even come out of their house.
Eastern cancelled classes and suspended operations for the day, with only essential personnel to report. I wrestled with my conscience about whether or not to try to get to Cheney. My morning guy Mark called to say he had been sent home and that Tawanka is closed. No boss at work, just the bakers and my girl C (who, come to think of it, are all on my shit list). Sent e-mail to the boss trying to weasel out of going in, but saying if I were indeed essential, I'd give it a shot. Sent a msg to the supe on FB asking about today: we were supposed to make dinner and schlep it up to the basketball court. Got a comment from another manager that the game and meal were cancelled. Got a call from the manager at Baldy's, who will be open later than usual and was trying to staff. Made my decision: there are enough people who live in Cheney and can walk to work. Two winters ago I was that person when everybody living in Medical Lake called in. Not even for premium pay. Called the boss and said I was conflicted, but that I just didn't think it was safe for me to try and get there. The Escort doesn't even have snow tires.
I have been sleeping poorly, tossing and turning with my left shoulder still giving me fits a month or more later. Likewise it has been 11 years since my sleep study and I think my CPAP therapy might need adjustment. The DME company says they have an auto-titrating CPAP which will record my sleep for a couple of weeks and upon which information my doctor or a pulmonologist can base a decision. Now to get the HMO that insures me and the clinic that sees me to coordinate this.
