Although it's still only 29 out, the sun is shining and the pussy willow is in full fuzzy bud, at least above where the deer can reach. All the snow is gone except the last bit of the huge mound in the driveway. I pried up the "wipe your paws" mat from where it was frozen to the concrete steps on the north porch, and moved it to the little deck on the sunny southern side.
There are three big old trees in my front yard. In the southernmost of these, there are two shiny little black birds hopping around in the branches and singing the strangest crackling, clicking, trilling love songs to one another. Then they dart in and out of their nest, which is in a hole in the tree. They are far beyond my skills as a photographer, but they should be fun to watch.
Man, deer poop a lot.
