back on the saddle
so, i'm now back in the good ol' town of Hyde Park, NY. Back in my cozy dorm room at the CIA. Good times...
i enjoyed my 3-week summer break very much so. the dinner party (that went VERY well, if i do say so myself)...Sea World (and getting DRENCHED with whale-water)...marissa getting her ears pierced for her b-day...the road trip to Santa Cruiz and SF and all the excitement there (plus getting to see Asher and Katie and James)...driving by the beach EVERY CHANCE I COULD...DRIVING, in general (oh, it had been sooooo long!)...getting to see everyone...seeing people i hadn't seen in YEARS at VInakas...night walks on the beach...the BEAUTIFUL weather that happened for almost my whole vacation...and, of course, getting to see/spend time with my family and KITTIES!!!! as you can tell (or maybe not, but i'm telling you anyways, so there), i had a great time in California.
it was cute...when ever my family cooked for me, i noticed that they werr adding a little something extra to it to try to make it a little bit fancier than normal...and my dad asked me a couple of times for "the CIA approval" before/while he was cooking something...it was all very amusing...but, it was WONDERFUL getting to eat FAMILIAR food, and not have to stand in a huge line to get it, and then be dissappointed when it tasted like crap. yes, we get bad food, too, even here at a culinary school. but, i'm sure it's still better than some regular school's food, so i guess it's no use complaining to people unless they go to the CIA, too. :)
yay!!! jake comes back from Alaska in 3 weeks! and i have a lunch date with Grace on Wednesday!!! i haven't talked with her in AGES...i'm very excited about this. since she doesn't live on campus anymore, i see her even less...and i find myself wanting to go and stop by her room, just to say hi, but can't...because she doesn't live in the dorms anymore, and i don't have a car to go drive to her apartment.
well, i guess i should go write out my recipes for class tomorrow...Cookies, Tarts and Mignardies. we're going to be making Chocolate Chunk, Dixie Butterscotch, Black and White, Peanut Butter, and Oatmeal cookies tomorrow. excited? you should be.
