(no subject)
Here's a massive update for the past month or so...or or as much of it i feel like typing at midnight on a sunday...
Well, Jake left for Alaska 3 weeks ago, and is schedualed to come back the 3rd week of August (he'll be gone for 3months). it was really hard the week that he left...i got really emotional and shit, the most i've ever been, especially overone person. and the first week he was gone was also hard. before, we would spend most of the night in his room, usually studying or just talking/watching movies/whatever. And to have that suddenly stop was very hard. all of my friends have been very understanding of how i feel and whatnot (they all know how incredibly close we are). 3 weeks down, 9 to go (and 3 of those weeks is our summer break, so i wouldn't have seen him for that, anyways, even if he hadn't gone to Alaska...so that makes me feel better and makes it seem like he's coming back sooner).
i just finished a block called Baking Techniques, and amstarting Pastry Techniques tomorrow. In BT, we made quick breads, muffins, pound cake, eclairs, pastry cream, doughnuts, pies (fruit-filled, and cream/custard-filled), etc. On Wednesday, my partner and i made a peanut butter, banana, and chocolate pie that we piped whipped cream on top and dusted with cocoa powder. it looked really nice,if i do say so myself:) anyways, our Chef said that he tought it looked like it belonged on the cover of a Martha Stewart magazine or something, because it looked so elegant and pretty, even though the filling was such a homey combination. that really made my week :) especailly since i've never had any formal piping experience, and all...myfriend took a picture of it, which he's supposed to email me...i'll post it when he does...
well, that's all i feel like talking about tonight...hope everyone's enjoying their summer breaks...iknow i'll enjoy mine in THREE WEEKS. and hopefully i can convince my mom to let me take a road trip to santa cruz and san fransisco...especially since i probably won't be taking my cross-country trip from SD to NY, sadly...but, ce la vie...
oh! if you haven't heard, they're making Rent into a movie, using much of the original broadway cast as the actors!!!! It comes out November 11---just in time for my birthday!!!
