voting
Well as you all knwo today is election day and I have succefully voted... I think. Around here in washington and the metro area there is a huge contriversy over the eletronic voting machines. I had heard that all the registration books were to be electronic though the one at mine was not, just the regular old list. I dont want tot get into the fray right now about the machines, but suffice it to say that both the manufacturers and the opperators are to tblame for any possible problems. Diebold and the like maintain that any "hackability" of thier units is not real as the units are gaurded by physical securty measures and if they do get hacked it is because the 85 year old ladies working at the polling place werent able to watch all four hundred people there. If you build a machine with that much importance, you need to do better than minibar keys to protect them, stop blaming the citizens who take the time to allow the rest of us shlubs to vote. Of course if they all printed a little ticket that I got to look at and say "yes this what I want it to say" and then they kept the ticket it wouldnt matter how secure any of this was. In any case, I was able to use my camera phone to take a picture of the screen as I reviewed my selections. My phone also makes a noise when it goes off, which I forgot to disable, yet still got no notice. I was wearing my handsfree wire and had all kinds of things in my pockets, and still not even a second look. Somone much smarter than I could have used the time I had and the lack of supervision, coupled with some kinda technology to really mess things up. Hell I could have had pockets full of powerful magnets to scramble the brains of the hapless machines I came into contact with. The poll workers have enough stuff to do, they cnat see every little thing, even when I am not smooth about it. Just sayin
Also, the government requirment that we use these devices,( mine came froma company called winvote) without requiring some form of an audit trail is unbelieveable and we should all be ashamed. If you arent disgusted with the whole country at the this point you should be I dont care what side of the aisle you claim to be on or if you even believe in the aisle. The two party system is currently the reality, work within it. It has become to awful that it is almost comical, so laugh and remember it will be your grandchildren who ultimatly get to clean all this shit up.
