Got there early and drank at the bar while trying to locate the person that we were meeting. My bud was very late, so I didn't have the benefit of knowing who I was looking for.

Finally met the guy who was upstairs having dinner with a friend and two women. It was difficult to note whether the guys were on dates or what. Apparently they had all come from the funeral of a magician named Jules. And, as I sat there and attempted to make conversation I just couldn't get the notion out of my head that I'm really not like other folks. My world is a bit broader and odder than the mainstream.

I've gotten comfortable with bears, queers, women, dykes, leatherfolk of various and sundry persuasions, and trans too. Being and having to interact with these straight mainstream folks took every ounce of acting skill that I have. The women were odd (to say the least). Sort of ditzy, lot of one-uping . . . "well I lived in Italy when I was married to the ambassador of thus and such," bad plastic surgery, and just general - hell I don't know - imbalance(??). The men did much of the same telling of tale tales, conspiracy theories, catholic church being run by homosexuals, and other rare bits of elaborative and speculative chat.

They finally finished dinner and we went down stairs to find Doc Lee then went in to see the 10:00 p.m. magic act which was stupendous. One guy was amazing with paper. He cut different shapes, tore things, and made apparently made some of them whole again. What a few snips of paper created. Amazing.

Another guy, with a serious speech impediment, was hysterical and had a comedy/magic routine. Rather good. Escaped (sort of) from a straight jacket. Did a trick with dollar bills where two people from the audience counted them out as they gave them to him. He was trying to get $11 and kept coming up with $10 no matter how many other ones they gave him. Fascinating!

After the show I got to hang with Doc and that was far more comfortable as we know each other and have friends in common. We also share an incredible love of food. On Valentine's Day - which falls on a Wed this year, I'm meeting him and 5 other people to LuchaVavoom. What is it? Well, it's a combination of mexican lucha libre, burlesque, and comedy. How could I say no??! Hmm, strip tease and risque humour . . . . yup . . . . sign me up. Here's more info: http://www.luchavavoom.com/opening.html

Now, one of the rather neat things about Doc Lee is that he has interesting friends and acquaintances. For instance, I'm gonna get to meet Pizz who is a hell of an artist
[http://www.thepizz.com/intro.html] and some other folk that evening.

All in all my goal to get out more and do less work oriented stuff seems to be working for the time being.

Still nothing on the trial front. Discovered that the OSC that I posted about yesterday was because one of the attorneys has not paid the Court Reporter fees. Not surprising since he was the asshole that I had trouble with. 'Nuff said.

Off to Temple then to watch the finale of Top Chef. Yaay.
