Puerto Vallarta - D1 and 2

Well, we finally made it down here after hours of flight time.  Had to go to Dallas to go to Mexico, go figure.  Got in very late.  Our friends K and L were waiting up for us, we talked, laughed, then hit the sack as it was several hours later for them and we'd been en route for forever.

The first full day here was spent at a timeshare spiel.  They own, we went along for the free food.  It was a looooong day that was finished off beach side with anotjitos and margaritas which were VERY strong.  Realized after the fact that the´'d given us doubles and I was pretty tanked.  The internet cafe here is a challenge given the European keyboards and certain keys that work one way in one program and another way in another.  Arggh, but I got some free time outta it, so that's that.

Today the major adventure was grocery shopping at the Walmart. There are things that I've never seen and much was in spanish, so it was an interesting trip.  The good news is that we now have food for several days and will be able to save $$ while being selective where to go.

We came back, grabbed a quick very late lunch then headed down to the pool, where I read then fell asleep.  Been getting up at 6 a.m. no matter what.  Made the 1st pitcher of margaritas tonight and already 1/4 of the tequila is gone.  I made fish sauteed with butter, olive oil, with garlic, corriander and lime which we had with pan roasted asparagus and bread.  There is NO oven so all the plans to do pastry have changed.  Stovetop desserts are of limited fare.  There's also the complication that there are no measuring cups or spoons.  So later it's just going to be sliced oranges with caramel that gets cracked like creme brulee does.

Tomorrow is a down day at the beach.  Eggs, chorizo, and coffee for breakfast.  Cold cuts for lunch, and probably pork adobado and green beans for dinner.  Need to find a steamer.  I'm the cook, could you tell?  Haven't decided on the dessert yet, but we may just have to go exploring for that.

It's been wonderful sharing stories of the past, catching up on folks in common, and just hanging out in general.  Very low key and nonsexual which has been quite delightful.  Sky and I rarely sleep together more than 2 nights in a row and it's been wonderful just hanging out with him.

More tomorrow or the next day.

old home week, adventure
