So it's been a while since any kind of real update. Since the last "real" update there's been a Gala (awesome), a sunburn, a huge fire down the street from OMSI (we were closed the next day) and an excellent balloon hat.
So, first the Gala. it was on May 12th. It was totally sweet, there were acrobats dressed like robots and fillet mignon and drinks and storm troopers and Darth Vader and Boba Fett and an ewok. We were short a wookie though. Oh, also, I got to ride a Segway, that was pretty neat, those things can go pretty fast. Or, at least it feels fast when you're riding it indoors and there's no bullet train or thoroughbred horse running next to you.

If I want to do more planting I'm going to have to seriously enrich the soil, cuz seriously. It's bad. My roommate wants to do a whole garden/urban farm thing which sounds pretty cool actually but a lot of work. I think I might go pick up some manure or something this weekend although I don't if it will help much at this point. I need some gardening classes! All I want is some home grown zukes and tomatoes! Anyway, I got a sunburn, it was pretty bad. I put sunscreen on my arms and hands and the back of my neck but I missed a bit lower on my shoulders and on my low back so when I was bending over and aerating/breaking up the soil my skin was frying. Good times. The burned part has all peeled but it's much darker now so I'll have a very strange tan line this year.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e43/cheezweezl/garden.jpg About a week ago Taylor Electric Supply warehouse building on 3rd and Clay street (about a block or so away from the museum) burned, it was about the biggest fire Portland's had in a very long time and it was huge. The warehouse took up a whole city block. I was watching it on the news. I almost wish I'd gone down there to take pictures. There were lots of people hanging out and watching it burn from across the street (MLK)and taking pictures and whatnot. The fire took out a couple of transformers so PGE had to shut down the power in this area so we had no power until about quarter after nine the next day. I came in to work though since the phone system was up and running on an emergency generator. It was a pretty slow day. Lots of people called to find out if we were closed but I didn't have much else to do since I couldn't be on the computer for most of the day. I brought some DVDs to work and watched Firefly on April's portable DVD player when I couldn't use the computer. So that kept me entertained for a while. I was able to use my computer for part of the day too so that wasn't so bad. After work I wandered down and took some photos of the mess. There was one shot that I actually really liked.

Although it has been raining since the day I got it fixed. I think it actually started that very night. *Sigh* Oh well... We're supposed to get some sun on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday then the rain is starting up again on Thursday. What the heck! It feels like fall and that depresses me. Blah.
Soooo.. Balloon hat, yes. It was a friend's birthday and his wife bought a big bag of the long fun tying balloons so we all went a little crazy.

So tonight I'm going to babysit so Lily and Steven can go out to dinner for his birthday. It should be interesting. I've never taken care of these kids before so it will be an adventure.
This morning we determined that today's theme song is "They're Coming to Take Me Away" by Napoleon XIV. It's just been a crazy crazy day and I'm glad it's Friday.
