Yesterday morning I discovered much to my dismay that my car wasn't working. It wouldn't even turn over. I was unfortunately about a third of the way down the driveway before I discovered that it wasn't even going to roll start. I asked my roommate if she would help me try to push it backward up the driveway and she graciously agreed to help me. Unfortunately we weren't strong enough so I had to get in it and let it roll all the way to the bottom of the driveway and park on the side and hope that none of the neighbors would have me towed. Fortunately the driveway is about twice as wide at the bottom and my car was still there when I got home.
I ended up taking the bus and was about an hour late to work. Thank goodness yesterday was a dry day. It evidently rained the whole time I was gone and stopped the day I got back. As I was walking toward the bus stop last night I felt compelled to stop and take pictures even though it caused me to miss the first bus. :) The Portland skyline is so incredibly beautiful. I feel blessed that I was able to take that walk and see something that I don't normally see and that the weather was so beautiful. It was around 50ish degrees F.
This is a picture that I took of the Hawthorne bridge and downtown Portland skyline. Above me is the I-5 bridge.
And one more of the skyline without the bridges (kind of fuzzy though, I need a tripod for the crisp shots with long exposure times.)
When I got home there was a brand new battery waiting for me and that fixed the car problem, hooray! (Thank you, Jesse!)

So today in the auditorium we had a live feed of the takeoff of NASA's New Horizons spacecraft that's headed out to Pluto. My roommate took some pictures for me since I missed the beginning of the launch and arrived shortly before the first fuel tanks were released. The launch had been scrubbed the last two days because of bad weather and/or high winds.
This was the first she'd used my camera so forgive any fuzziness. :) These two actually turned out pretty well. It's photos of a projection screen. :D

Debbie and I were discussing how devastating it must be when something goes wrong. All that money and work down the crapper. I guess you learn from your failures though, at least I would hope so!
