Upside-Down Car & A Moral Quandary

So, I was driving home a few days ago (Friday, I think), when I ran into a traffic slow-down. Well, not literally. There was an upside-down car on the side of the road, and a big SUV in front of me slowing way down to look. Now, my first reaction was annoyance, as I try (try, it can be difficult) to avoid rubbernecking an accident, so as to not get in the way of the police & ambulance. As I drove past though, I realized that the cops weren't there yet. The SUV driver was trying to see if someone needed help, not being a dick. There was another car stopped as well. I had a split second to decide what to do... and I kept going.

Now, if there aren't police/ambulance at a wreck yet, someone should stop to see if people need help. There was one car stopped already, but I realized a few seconds later that maybe I should have stopped too. What to do? What I did was get my phone and call 911 as I continued driving home. Figuring maybe nobody had called yet.

I was a bit disappointed in how long it took. If I was bleeding to death, I'd be dead (well, duh, but...). It took them about 5 min or so to answer my call, and a bit longer to check if the upside down car had been reported already. It had, and they thanked me for calling in, which was nice.

I figure I get a C+ for ethics here? :-( Should have stopped to see if there were people trapped inside, but failing that, did next the best thing & called the people who can help & stayed out of their way? I don't know.

New & Interesting Ways to Injure Myself

I was cleaning my ears out with q-tips yesterday (yes, I know that you're not supposed to do that, but I do it anyway). The left ear q-tip came out with black gunk on it. This is Not Right. Ear wax is not supposed to be black. I came to the horrific conclusion that a bug had crawled in my ear and died. Maybe one of those little moths, which is why there was dusty black gunk. I then spent way too much time irrigating & scraping out my ear, trying to get rid of the imaginary dead bug. I realized later that it was probably residue from my iPod ear bud which had worn off when I was working out. Bud, not bug. But in my rather irrational freaking out, I had scraped the inside of my ear canal.

And now my ear hurts. If it gets infected I'm going to feel really stupid.

New & Interesting ways to injure myself. It's a talent I have.
