Your post cracked me up; it literally made me laugh aloud, which isn't always wise at 1:10 a.m. in the Midwest. *G*

I will be eager to see details as they emerge. I wonder who's doing the writing and who all will be included in the cast ...?

Last I heard, it was still Doug Naylor and they've got all four lads. Doubt Norman'll be back in, the whiny git. And this whole thing BETTER focus on finding Kochanski and explaining the missing nine years or Bitsy will give birth to a porcupine, arse first.

I told my sister I'm almost willing to lay money that since it's Naylor and SCM Michael McGruder was in HIS solo novel, I'm betting he'll show up at some point. So keep an eye out for any casting rumors for young fellows who could pass for ... well, not to be all spoilery, but you know. ;-)

I........actually had an idea for a horrible, horrible fic. Regarding a plot device from the novels. Reketrebn. We need some Symbimorphs up in this next series, plz.

Regarding your icon: I watched BTE again last weekend with some friends and I don't know why, maybe it's just the desire for some feminine presence (yes, I still love my slash, but it doesn't mean I can't want women around), or maybe it's her personality, or even the actress, but ... I dunno, Kremlin Kate kind of grows on me. I'd kind of like to see her around again, and Rimmer annoy the curd out of each other. (And on a tangent, the smegups were adorable - Sophie was clearly nervous working with those guys, that poor woman.)

What's your fic idea, BTW? Inquiring minds.

Oh, she was spectacular. I love Sophie a lot, and she was beautiful. But.......no, I think the character is best relegated to a one-time shot, like Nirvana was. It's better on Red Dwarf if the women are in a revolving door; Kochanski being a part of the cast permanently didn't do much for it. I SAY THIS AS A WOMAN IN FANDOM TOO. I AM PART OF THE PROBLEM CLEARLY.

Well, the Symbimorphs cast hooks and bond with their "partners;" what if there was one who was rogue, and out looking for the best mental snack it could find? Cat's out of the question: no brains to nom on. Ditto Kryten. Lister's too boring, his thoughts are pretty vanilla.

Rimmer, on the other hand. Golly. Neuroses to a telepath are like delicious pudding pops.

YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. PLS TO BE RETIRING YOUR FEMINIST MEMBERSHIP CARD NAO KTHXBYE.

Good thought on the neuroses. (Nat and I had a similar type of idea regarding Rimmer, some Gelfs, and little Bexley, but it's not really like yours, so if it ever sees the light of day, you'll know I didn't pirate it at least ...) Rimmer's brain could feed a tribe for a couple of weeks. And then recharge.

oh god that icon

But yeah the fic possibilities with Rimmer's brain is pretty much the well that never runs dry. Hence the reason I write him perhaps a liiiiiiittle bit too well.
