BARF.
valentine's day is so pervasive that now i cannot even look at livejournal without seeing little pink hearts in the background of the banner. i see ads on television, i see ads in the paper, i hear ads on the radio. "you should be in love! you should have a significant other! buy this shit from us to give to them! and if you don't have somebody special in your life, you just aren't worth a damn!"
i never thought about it before because i've always had a valentine (at least since i cared to) but the marketing schemes that surround this holiday are pretty disgusting. it singles out single people (ha) because they can't be consumers for this particular holiday, since they have no one to buy a teddy bear for. and we all know, if you're not a consumer in America, you really are worthless.
only 27 more hours of this shit. many of which i will be sleeping (hopefully) and taking a spanish test. which i need to study for now.
