#Tutorial; Selective Coloring -- Dark image.

Feb 28, 2008 12:54

I've decided to write a 8 step tutorial for selective coloring on a dark cap *yay me* The tutorial is written for Photoshop CS2, so i don't know if it's translatable for other programs. First tutorial ever peeps, so be gentle with me *puppy eyes*

from this
----> to this

1. First, open a new 100x100 canvas. (file - new - etc.) Fill the white canvas with #f3e1bc.
2. Get your base, place/drag it over the background layer and set mode to hardlight.

3. Duplicate this layer twice and set the mode of both layers to screen. Set the opacity of the second screen layer to 70%. You can always play with the opacity to get it to your liking, i choose 70.

4. Create a new layer (click on the little item to your bottom right
).
5. Fill the layer with #ffc600, and set the mode to linear burn.

6. Go to layer - new adjustments layer - selective color and use these settings;

REDS.
cyan. -100
yellow. +100

YELLOWS.
cyan. -100
magenta. -100
yellow. -100

Then, add another selective color layer and use these settings;

YELLOWS.
cyan. -100
magenta. -100
yellow. -43

NEUTRALS.
cyan. +100
magenta. -24
yellow. -35

7. Now, to create some hightlights, go to layer - new adjustments layer - color balance. Use these settings;

COLOR BALANCE.
under highlights.
cyan. -12
yellow. +12

8. And last but not least, merge all layers (Shift+Ctrl+E), duplicate layer, and set mode to softlight, opacity 50%.
