So I was thinking about all the places I have to go to check my various e-mail addresses and such and realised I've really only been checking them, I haven't been responding to very much.
I know all of you have your own lives to lead and all that, but I like to know what you're up to, so I'm sure you like to hear what's going on down here, too. :)
Well, things are wonderful. Borders treats me very well, and my co-workers there are really cool. I never would have thought I would make friends so easily, but the people in this town are so open to new people and don't seem closed off like sometimes it felt in Macomb.
Chris introduced me to a really great group of people who he met through the University, and they are equally as cool. We hang out with them every Wednesday night at the Copper Monkey, a collge bar with happy hour where ladies drink free. :) We also have fun other times, but you know how that works. I went to St. Augustine last weekend with two of my new girlfriends, Keilah and Jennifer. Had some good times. :)
I'm taking a lot of interest in things I felt like I never had time or energy for when we lived in Illinois, like Chinese Brush Painting. I have so much more opportunity to express my artistic self here, because there are tons of things that are here inspiring or otherwise helping me realise how and what I want to do. Just people who bring a nice book up to pay for at the register inspire me! :) I'm outside, seeing beautiful scenery every day, birds I've never seen in real life before are right at my doorstep. There is a whole world I never thought I'd be happy enough to notice.
There are so many places to eat and different kinds of food that we haven't even begun to explore them all. We had sushi last night, and Florida cuisine this afternoon. People bring their dogs with them to restaraunts here, and sit outside with them. Almost every place has outside dining options, and it is so refreshing!
We did have some pretty cold weather for a little while, but nothing like up North. All we got were some rainstorms and enough low temperatures to force me to wear a coat a couple of times. I think winters here might last as long as a month, if that. No complaints here.
I'm really happy to have the TV show "Heroes" to watch on Mondays, because otherwise, I might never get to chat with my Jenn! We have really felt far apart since I left because she's been struggling to pay her bills, be with the man she loves, and keep up with her PhD application materials. So it has been hard to keep as much in touch with her as I would like, but it's oaky. :) I just hope she makes it through the last few months she has to be in Macomb sane enough to start her program.
My sister-in-law is doing very well, and is coming up to see us tonight. We're going to St. Augustine again, for Aunt Ina's b-day. Bekah has been doing her homework and srudying very hard to get through her program, too. She's really got it rough cuz it's almost all stats and math.
I get few opportunities to talk to anyone over the phone, so if anyone has tried to call, I'm sorry if I missed it. can't answer my phone at work, and I'm pretty much there all the time. It's so different working in a corporate store. They have all these rules, and stuff! ;-p
I find myself missing my friends very much. I have new ones, but you know how I am. I'm terrible at calling and keeping in touch, so be in touch with me, whether you have to send a text message or an email.
Love to all of you!
