Summary: A chance encounter at a nail salon changes everything.
JD sighed as he arrived at the nail salon to pick up Elliot for their date. He glanced down at his watch-she was late, as usual-then looked up to see Dr. Cox exiting the salon. Surprised, JD accosted the older man. Sneaking up behind him, JD asked, “What were you doing in there, Perry?”
Cox jumped, turning an angry glare on JD. “Newbie! I was, uh, making an appointment for Jordan. Her, uh, birthday is next week, and I, uh, wanted to get her something…nice?”
JD smiled mischievously, then reached out and grabbed Cox’s hand. He examined the older man’s nails, then asked with a grin, “Then why are your nails so shiny, Per?”
Cox snatched his hand back and sent a death stare JD’s way. But his former protégé didn’t back down, and Cox realized that his “glares of doom” didn’t work as well as they once used to. Even though he knew he would never live this down, he mumbled under his breath, and JD had to strain to hear the confession: “It’s called a ‘man-icure’, Newbie.”
“And you always said that I was a girl! At least I’ve never painted my nails!”
“It’s clear polish!”
