Some bit of neat news for the gaming world, courtesy of
The Escapist, a gaming news and culture site.
"The US National Endowment for the Arts now considers videogames eligible for artistic funding, legally recognizing them as an art form."
Link here For a video game fangirl and future/aspiring game designer and artist like myself, this is fantastic news. :D It may still take a while for video games to be thoroughly accepted into culture as a whole the way television film and literature have, and become an art form in the eyes of the general public, but this is great. This makes the debate swing towards the favor of games as an art and as an industry. :D Granted, grant applications and rules now apply for games and developers seeking aid from this organization, and the games are likely not going to be the you'd typically find on the shelves of Game Stop... It will also take more time for video games to become a legitimate art form in the eyes of the main stream public, but the way things are going now... It just might be sooner than later. :D I know I'm glad for this.
Been busy this weekend. Parents are out of town, so I've had the house to myself (and the cats). Got busy yesterday with trying my hand as some digital painting, and working on an assignment for my classes. I'm feeling pretty optimistic so far.
That's all for now. :D Back to work. Or lunch. One or the other. Maybe both.
