...Largely because I've been browsing the blogs. (Yes, yes, I know.)
And one thing that I'm very adament about is Women's Rights - particularly the right to have a safe a legal abortion in the United States.
I saw this video on the
The Daily Kos, and it just broke my heart. See for yourself...

Need I really say anymore? I wouldn't want to be in this girl's position, and learn that - to my horror and shame - that I would have to have an unwanted pregnancy to term as well. Add to that, Palin believes that women should have to pay for Rape Kits. Isn't the rape itself traumatic enough? Why victimize women even more by making them pay for their rape kit? A Rape Kit is crime-scene evidence, used by prosecuters to identify, track down and put the rapist behind bars. And Rape itself is a hugely under-reported crime already. Why make it even more so under-reported? To "shame" women for being voilently assaulted and brutalized? To "shame" women for the "sin" of "having sex"? To "shame" women into their "rightful place"? And what if they got pregnant? They would be re-traumatized again and would have to live a with permemenant, painful reminder of what has happened to them, even if the fetus was carried to term, became a baby and was adopted out.
It just disgusts me to see that there people here in this country that would seek to set the clock back 30 years on women's rights and a woman's right to privacy and the right to do with her body as she pleases. Abortion isn't the real issue. It's a sick attempt to control women and what they do with their lives - and put them "back in their place" for the so-called "sin" of having sex/being sexual/actually being independant, competant human beings. Absolutely sickening.
Well, that's all for now. I'm tired, so I'll be heading off to bed. However, I'm also curious to see some of y'all respond. So please do. A dialogue would be nice.
Anyway... G'Night.
