Colleges need to have more security and better organization.
The second shooting could have been of a lesser degree if college tried harder to communicate with the students and inform them of the first shooting.
They had over 2 hours for Christ's sake! Call people, post stuff on the radio. Email is not enough, especially if kids are in their cars when they are supposed to receive the email.
I don't like playing the blame game really. I did think the President tried to handle the situation as best as he could, and I respect him for that. But the thing is there were two murders in August and three bomb scares. While bomb scares are common, they should have taken some security measures after the murders.
The shooter knew when the gates of the campus where open. The shooter knew that there are no cameras in campus. He knew how to lock the cops from entering the building.
Also usually 2/3 of mass murderers in this type of scenario seek psychological help. Maybe he sought help and the psychologists didn't see it as anything of importance. It ALWAYS is important when a person has homicidal or suicidal thoughts, and if this man went to them and expressed his thoughts and got that response, shame on them.
Again I'm not blaming the cops or the President at Virginia Tech. I just wouldn't be surprised though if he resigns soon or the school gets sued.
