motor city boogie, with the overdrive! --

hello darlings,

hope you have had productive new years'! i, personally, fell down a flight of steps while attempting to accompany my mother & brother to caledonia two days ago, so i've spent alot of time (1) trying to find open urgent care centers (2) waiting in line, then giving up on, open urgent care centers, (3) laying around on the couch in recovery from said forays into the world of urgent care.

i'm heading to california on the 7th! then, after that -- in late march -- i'll be heading up to port townsend to work as an environmental educator/deckhand aboard the historic schooner ADVENTURESS on puget sound! i couldn't be more thrilled!

bbbbbut: it didn't work out for me to go to esalen for the time in between. SO: does anyone know of any good wwoofing, any open buddhist sanghas (any branch?), or any other amazing, relatively low-budget work-trade opportunities on the west coast from late-january through mid-march? anyone want to host me, in my numerous capacities as maid, sailor, itinerant musician, vegan/raw chef, honest-dealer & fairly tireless trickster? i can come up with a roster of gamblin' perfect race-horse names, right on the spot. and i will even read your tarot.

seriously, though, any of you west coast people: i would love to visit you! and if you know of any west-coast person/place/organization needing work and willing to exchange housing for labor, i'm your girl!

in other news, in case i haven't posted it here directly before, my buddy jeff & i have a (historic american[a]!) music blog! it's sorta-kinda filling the hole in my heart that the "end" of my tenure at WSRN left behind; and it's been a whole lot of fun to write:

IT'S YER MISFORTUNE

so please read! debate! contribute!

aaaand, best of all -- let me know if you're interested in swamp pop, or WHATEVER (relatively) old, weird american music you're digging right now; and i'll rig it up so's you can write us a guest post! that would be the best, yes?

simply the best!

sore but straight line west,
with love,

jessi
