“Spike, I don’t know if I can do this. I want to be a mother, I mean, I think I do, but I don’t know if I can… there’s so much to do and take care of and what if something goes wrong--”
Spike stopped Dawn’s babbling by grasping her shoulders. “Hey, hey, you listen to me, Bit. You’ll be a brilliant mum. And old Rupert--don’t you ever tell him I said this--he’s a right decent bloke, who’ll make a great dad.”
He kissed her brow. “’Sides, you had Joyce for a mum. You learned from the best.”
