Lots of Stuff!

So hi! Yeah, it's been a long time since I've popped in. Wow real life has been taking over everything. So the game so far in short. I've moved a fair long way away from downtown Seattle. I bought a car. I have been preparing for and participated in the Washington Renaissance Faire. I'm still volunteering at Street Bean, the coffee shop for the local street kid mission. I'm going to my high school reunion later this month.

Yeah. LOTS!

Firstly - the move. The move itself went amazingly smoothly. I'm tellin' ya - if you have to move get everything in boxes first, then get three Boy Scouts turned geeks. Oh man. They had everything out and in cars and gone before I could blink. hollyqueen and I just looked at each other and started moving more boxes to the front of the apartment and let them pack the cars. Super smooth.

Slightly less smooth has been adjusting to living with two roommates, as much as I adore them. Actually, I take that back, it has been as smooth as could have gone. I've lived alone too long. We had a few bumps but things are fine now. No tempers were lost, not feelings hurt, just understandable grinding on each other to find out how we fit together. Rough transmission, but no big. We've decided to keep each other. It goes well.

The commute isn't really that big a deal. Lara works in south Seattle so she has to drive past downtown any way. Now with two of us we carpool and can use the faster lanes. Whoot! I'm paying a bit extra from what they'd asked for rent to help with gas and it ain't no thang. Only problem is she's a trainer and so occasionally is not going to her office. I have figured out how to take the bus out from the boonies to work, but it involves leaving my house at 5 a.m., walking almost a mile to the bus stop and getting downtown at 7:30 and walking to work from there. At least I'm getting my exercise?

Which leads to item number 2 - I bought a car. :D Yup! My very first car. And for those of you who have been asking for details - it's a 1998 Ford Taurus. It's Lara's second car (Dawn has her own) and she was using it because her other one needed servicing but she didn't have the money to fix it yet. So I bought it off of her. Insured it even! Goodness I loves my bank/insurance company. Yes, yes I do.

I'm planning to use it to get to the Park and Ride for days when Lara isn't headed my way. I am not planning to drive it all the way into Seattle on a regular basis. What aangelica says is called a "train car" in New York.

Which leads to item number 3 - Ren Faire. Um... perhaps, regardless of one's excitement, driving 77 miles from Marysville to Sumner by oneself in the dark on a Friday night wasn't the best way to get acquainted with my car. But! Acquainted we are now! His name, Lara tells me, is Zen'ze'bull. He is, after all, a sensible car, and a Taurus. So. Hee.

Ren Faire people are awesome. Ren Faire itself? Meh. Ren Faire is to the S.C.A. what raiding is to WoW, work when I wanted a game. I thanked them all for their help and politely bowed out. I think it would be more fun as a patron instead of a part of the organizers. Lara wants to go to September Crown for her birthday. Sounds like a much more entertaining time to me!
