Crack Fic: InterUniverse Travel Incorporated

Jul 25, 2010 14:51

Summary: This is the last part of Crack Fic: InterUniverse Travel Incorporated III? LJ wouldn't let me add it to the previous post as it was too long. If you remember, Torchwood got involved and Maladict took a trip to Cardiff. This is how the TARDIS got them both home.

Pairings: Discworld: Polly/Mal - established relationship, Doctor Who: None ( Read more... )

polly, mal, xover, fic

Is it Christmas yet or what is explaining all this fic. Not that I'm complaining, mind. Which fic of yours is this referring to, though? I need to know that they'll survive this, poor dears :(

(Also, one of these days we really need a discussion post on what Mal eats, if anything, because MR just has a throwaway line on how Mal is too edgy to eat and while her existence does defy science I think she eats sometimes.)

Also, because I was hardly commenting on the fic, what do you mean, "a little angst"? Not that it's not awesome, but it's also completely heartbreaking. A little, anyway. Well-done!

lol. Angsty crossover is melancholy. :D

But it's not that bad! There is tea! Tea!

This falls in the second year of the great war between Borogravia and Mumtab ('What Polly Did At War' - sketched timeline wise but no further). And of course they survive. Why else would they need tea-bags?

For Mal to have something to angst over?

I'm obviously not as cruel as you. Anyway you've read the death fic! She has plenty to angst over. Expensive lighters don't decompose that easily you know.

You're obviously just as cruel as I am, what with taking care that Mal has long-lasting items to angst over.

Everyone needs something to hold onto innit? How else can we write terribly dolorous fic about their state of mind? We need visual representations of mental turmoil, damnit!

I've had Mal angst over lockets, cats, coffee, and numbers, and now I have the impression I must decide between making a point and not appearing heartless about characters argh.

Whatever rocks yer boat bebe. If you wish to bring angst and further angst to the table fret not that it sharn't be inhaled with full enjoyment just because it breaks hearts.

Likewise with teh funneh. ALL IS GOOD. BRING US FIC. FIC MONSTER HUNGRY.

It is because BBC3 start showing a repeat of Doctor Who with the 11th Doctor this week and I had to get this out of my head before I could even consider sitting down and watching it. So yeah. Splurge.

(We should do that - cos I think she does eat... just not so much. I have theories about how a slow heartbeat is linked to a slow metabolism and therefore she doesn't need to eat as often as these warm blooded mammals etc.)

Clearly I should be watching moar TV, if only for the fic (or any at all).

Yes, but where does the slow heartbeat trope come from? Is it a trope? I always thought amazon_syren made that one up, but if it's in the books, er, whoops. I guess, since we're talking about vampires anyway, a slow heartrate makes about as much sense as a fast one, or none at all, but it always makes me think of reptiles in the cold.

Isn't it a trope? I may have stolen it unwittingly but I thought it was one of those things that just... is. As long as they don't sparkle I reckon anything is game.

I don't like my vampires corpse-like, but really I have no idea cos I don't like vampires much except for Discworld vampires, also I was dragged to see Eclipse last week and must report that while it was very, very bad, it wasn't as bad as I expected, and that is a scary thought.

Hey, the Mal & body glitter combo is still hanging over the community's collective head, just so you know :D

No, me neither. I have no idea how Mal keeps an acceptable body temperature but personally canon says it is so :D

I'm all yay for Mal in body glitter. Very yay in fact. Bring it on. It's just intrinsic sparkling that creases me up. (I'm due to catch that film sometime soon. For the lols. And the pretty. And Alice. Hope there are lots of lols)

The sad truth is I have no idea how to write what with having a full-time job and all. Gah! Others may do just fine, though.

I'm not going to grace the films with my recommendation, but if you must watch them, make sure you don't spend money on them, and then go have fun XD The sparkling scenes. I swear you couldn't make that shit up as a parody.
