It's a minute or two past 8am. I am doing my morning thing with the computer, poking code and reading news, and have been doing so for the last half hour.
When 8am comes, you don't need to look at the clock to know what time it is. Why? When 8am arrives, your MSN window will start going DING! DING DING! DING DING DING DING DING! because people who work in offices have just signed on. Start your work day by logging in to MSN IMMEDIATELY! If I test my theory right now, I'll be able to report that not one of those people will switch their status to 'away', 'working' or 'busy'. None of them will turn down a friendly non-work chat. People on my list who work from home are not online at this hour.
Remember: Just because you're at work doesn't mean you have to work. Just keep that seat warm and demand a salary.
