Today somehow we were left with Dad's brand new Chevy Silverado and nothing to do. So we went shopping. We headed to Hopkins to a little Dutch store we found in the phone book and we stocked up on Speculaas and Stroopwaffles. The lady laughed at us a little while we told her about how we were introduced to the products and that we researched from 1400 miles away about where we could find them in the cities. She was glad she could satisfy our fix and sent us on our merry way. We hit the coffee shop on the way to Costco to get decaf expresso (yes, I know...oxymoron) and Alix got herself a frozen beverage that tasted like a banana in chocolate laced with coffee. Very sweet, and really good. Then we decided to head to Costco (as one would do with time on their hands and in a giant truck) and got lost. I knew approximately where the store was, but couldn't remember exactly how to get there. In our travels we passed one of my previous jobs where I was a bill collector (fun...not) and then the Bennigans that we used to go to on Fridays to get drunk and forget about being a bill collector, old stomping grounds. Finally we stumbled across the Costco, parked in the back forty and did some shopping. We didn't get much, but it is fun to see the regional variations of one of your favorite stores. We stocked up on a few items my mom asked for as well as a few things for the cabin and headed home so we could go out again.
Tonight was a Yankee/Red Sox game so we headed back to Boston's for beer and baseball since mom refuses to get cable. We had the same waitress as the night before and she introduced us to the "Gallon Pitcher". Yes, we had a gallon of beer for just the 2 of us. Kari joined us around 11 and Gail and her date, came by shortly there after. After the game we headed to another bar for darts and beer and observed and reviewed Gail's date as it unfolded before us. The hand holding was especially cute and I understand there may have been kissing later that evening. People watching is fun.
We got home about 2am and we were the 1st of the kids home. I would like to point out that I am the only one of the 3 of us that is of legal drinking age (I know that doesn't matter) but I was hoping to have outlasted at least one of them since they had both worked today.
Tomorrow we head to the cabin!
