The Battle Victor, by
teawithvoldy Took the kids to the swimming pool at the gym today. Swam for 30 minutes before some kid pooped in the pool and everyone was evacuated. A thirty minute shock treatment of the pool turned into 12 hours when the poop was more extensive than originally thought. Yuck.
So, we spent the rest of the day at home. Double yuck.
Someone on my flist either recommended or raved (or both) A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. With the 100 page rule in effect, Owen is going back to the Library tomorrow. 111 pages in and I've gotten lots of history, I know Owen has a weird voice and is tiny, the narrarator is a bastard (literally) and a draft dodger and his mom was killed when Owen hit a baseball for the first time. Okay, I know more than that, but I don't care. Great characters, great history, but there isn't much plot or story right now. So, I'm checking out. And, it is bugging me that Owen's dialogue is in all CAPS. I think he's shouting. And, I'm annoyed. And, honestly it's hard to get interested in it when I just finished reading a great story with great characters. It's one of those stories you can't stop thinking about. Thanks
madlorivoldmort for letting me read it!
Why is it that I can never remember all I want to say when I'm posting?
