I've decided what my true boggart is. It's an life-sized iPod full of Mr. Charms music. Imagine it, a 5-foot silver iPod grooving to all those 80's tunes we've tried to forget...not to mention the Johnny Lee classic from Urban Cowboy, "Lookin' for Love" (the actual song that brutally murdered my libido. He went through his entire iPod with me the other night, wanting to prove that i would "love!!!" his music. I didn't. He thinks I'm trying to be 'cool' with what I listen to lately instead of listening to, you know, what's 'really' good. You know, all those songs we've heard one million times and counting. Here a little sample playlist from his 'favorite' station:
1999 - Prince
We've Got Tonight - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
Everyday People - Sly & the Family Stone
Joy to the World - Three Dog Night
Father Figure - George Michael
Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James & the Shondells
Too Late to Turn Back Now - Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose
Take Me Home - Phil Collins
Miracles - Jefferson Starship
He's 33, by the way. What 33 year old man admits to listening to this shit? It is very distressing. I do think he likes The Killers and Franz Ferdinand and The Stone Roses are growing on him, so there is hope. I think he's just being stubborn by not wanting to admit that my music is better than his. I only pray that he comes around. I have needs and I miss my libido.
Did anyone else read that they are re-releasing the porn classic, Deep Throat? Yes, it is being re-released to 'art houses' for midnight showings. I guess they want to give it that 'arty air' so that normal people can go see porn and not feel guilty about it. The fact that it is rated NC-17 makes me want to edit all my stories to 'R.'
I figured out how to filter my e-mail messages so all my lj alerts and my portkey reveiws go into their own little folders! Isn't that cool? Probably something everyone else has been doing for years, but I was excited.
Thanks to everyone on the flist (and the lurkers) that gave book recs. I need to go to the library now.
Captain Jack had his first swimming lesson today. He grinned the entire time. He was just adoreable. Pale as a sheet, but by far the cutest kid out there. The whole way there he talked about how he didn't want to do it, didn't want to go. I did what I always do and tuned him out. When we drove up, he got excited by the fish painted on the window of the swim school. I promised to take him swimming at the gym on Thursday (tuesday and thursday are Mommy and Jack days since he doesn't have school) so he can practice. Great! I get to put a bathing suit on. I can't wait.
Finally got inspiration for the next chapter of BLTN tonight while cooking fajitas. Must go write.
