First Day of Student Teaching

Jan 20, 2009 21:30

I think it went fairly well. The students are generally good kids, and I really like my mentor teacher. The commute sucks, and driving across the Causeway is BORING (25 miles of lake!), but oh well.

Interesting moment: we took half of a period to watch Obama's inaugural address, which was pretty awesome. One student kept pretending to shoot the President on TV and making stupid comments. Thankfully the other students got fed up with him quickly and told him to stop it, or else I would have had to tell him, "Hey, check your attitude. You are being entirely inappropriate right now. And by the way, pretending to shoot the President could be construed as a threat against him. Someone could take you seriously, and then you'd have some explaining to do. To the Secret Service."

And now, I'm off to bed. Getting up at 6 AM is seriously lame.
