The Vacation: The Highlights

Feb 14, 2006 18:49

I went in a mosque for the first time. I saw the Hagia Sophia and the Dolmabache Palace, where we had a tour guide who was obsessed with circumcision. I did not buy cheap trinkets in the bazaar for more than they were worth. I ate pounds of yummy Turkish food and drank raki and Turkish coffee. I went out drinking and dancing almost every night. I ate dinner on a boat cruising the Bosporus. I saw an anti-American movie in a very American-like mall. I suffered through the Model UN. I got a phone number. I did not get bird flu. I ate wienerschnitzel and apfelstrudel and tafelspitz and sacher torte. I drank coffee off a little silver tray in a Viennese cafe. I drank champagne and waltzed in the Hofburg Palace in my stunning red dress until 3am, with a genuine Austrian even. I had a wonderful time. And now what you've all been waiting for: the pictures.
