Clothes Make the Woman

When you read this, those of you who have known me for a long time are going to think that I have been possessed, brainwashed, or put under alien mind control. None of these things have happened. I don't think.

I like skirts.

Specifically, I like these two cotton A-line skirts I bought a few weeks ago with my massive tax refund. Some of it is purely practical; I like the way they keep my legs from suffocating in the heat. But it's more than that. I like the way they swish and flutter when I walk. I like the way they add interest to my wardrobe. You can't wear pants with anything more than a conservative pinstripe without looking like a parody of the '60s, but you can put all sorts of prints on a skirt and still look classy. I like the way they hide my flabby thighs and show off my nice trim ankles and the graceful curve of my calves, like the scroll on a violin. And I like that they don't require ironing or dry cleaning. I should buy more of them.
