Where Angels Fear to Tread

Dear Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board,

Just say no. Just put the pen down and walk away. I am certain you have a full schedule, a busy agenda. Or maybe even some kind of personal life. Either way, I am absolutely positive you have better things to do than wasting a single nanosecond pondering whether the Institute for Creation Research has any business training science teachers for public schools. However, if you wanted to be supremely generous with your time and indulge this little whimsy, you need do no more than glance at their homepage, which reads:

The Institute for Creation Research equips believers with evidences of the Bible’s accuracy and authority through scientific research, educational programs, and media presentations, all conducted within a thoroughly biblical framework.

Do you see any words in there that might be out of place in a science classroom? Perhaps one that starts with B and rhymes with libel? Seriously guys. Remember a couple of years ago when Kansas got all zealous? Remember how everyone laughed at them? Remember how quickly all those involved got booted out of office and replaced with more sensible people, who promptly went back to an evolution standard? You might want to dwell on those memories for a moment. Or several. That would be far more constructive than even toying with the thought, even for a split second, that these people need to be able to pass out teaching licenses.

Love,
Meredith
