B2ST (Beast) is a six member boy group from South Korea. They debuted late 2009, with ex-solo singer AJ (Gikwang) with their mini "Beast is the B2ST." The group was recently awarded with the Best Newcomer Award at the 19th Seoul Music Awards.
Their second mini album "Shock of the New Era" was leaked two days prior to the release date. It is going to be released tomorrow.
Lilith says ♥ Ehh, I'm a big fan of intros. They usually end up being my favorite songs. But B2ST's Just Before Shock disappoints me to no end. It's boring and didn't give me any reason to continue listening to the mini album. And I get that high pitched singing in the background adds to the song, I listen to DBSK, but it sounded like a dying animal.
Every day I shock! Every night I shock! Shock will be the promotion song for this mini. It is a great dancing song for hip hop. Hyunseung's (I had to look up his name - I still know him as So-1) vocals finally get shown off a bit (for about five seconds, whoo!) in this song. I don't think B2ST will have any problem getting popular with this song this time around.
Special is a special song. It has a good beat and everything but I find the Engrish distracting. "Speshur, speshur, speshur." It reminds me of B2ST's Mystery from their first mini album. It is a song that can't be explained very well because it's such an oddity.
My favorite song on this album! 내 여자친구를 부탁해 (Say No)! It has a very "I can climb this mountain" feel to it. It reminds me of the songs that are popular in America now (but with a much more electronic feel to it).
Easy is a relatively unoriginal song with a slow beat. But there's always one of these songs on every mini, so they should be forgiven for it. It is a lovely song. The rapping is divine~
Overall, not enough rapping. Out of all the members 2 out of 6 are rappers! I was not satisfied.
Final note: Shock of the New Era is a great mini that deserves some attention, especially from people who enjoyed their song "Mystery" from their first mini.
