Chapter Eight:

It had been months since the phenomenal Swan Lake performance put on by the Sparkling Dance Committee. Everything reverted back to Sparkling Lazy Days after that, for along with the performance Recital and Concerto season also ended. The music rooms were quiet, the concert halls abandoned, the dance practice halls empty.

Save for one. On the third floor private dance hall, Park Miyoung was cross-legged on the floor, her eyes locked onto the empty space before her. Mimi’s usual ballet pianist was finally back from her wrist therapy, Thank God, and routine practice still continued. There weren’t any new plays for the season, but what harm could a little extra practice do, right?

Except practicing is not what Miyoung was doing ever since that day. That day when her Swan lake ballet pianist confessed his love for her. That event was totally uncalled for. The memory bore through her brain and it was like a video tape constantly on repeat.

I like you. Lee Sungyeol, the culprit of her ritual sulk-tice (she coined this word from sulking and practice, because that was what she was doing right now.), said. What was that boy thinking? He knew her heart was calling for someone else.

Kim Myungsoo.

She didn’t have a choice but to refuse. She may be attracted to the tall choding, but how could she go out with him if every fiber of her being called out for his best friend? It would be akin to lying.

Problem is, the rejection didn’t do her any good. She should be better off, right? She was the heart breaker, for heaven’s sake. She shouldn’t be sulking like this. She should be out and about, ready to mingle, not curled up like a wet cat in her private practice room.

Except, anyone who saw Miyoung in her present condition might say that she was the dumpee, not the dumper. She hadn’t slept properly since the incident, her mind brimming with images of the boy. Not the stoic Ulzzang Myungsoo-that was the usual thing that happened-but the childish giant Lee Sungyeol. Everytime she dared her emerald eyes to a close, it was the friendly face with chubby cheeks she saw, not the cold stoic expression of the other. Double Chocolate ice cream and baby blue bikes reminded her of the fun day in the park. Don’t even let her start on silver Audis. It just felt so wrong that-no matter how strongly she repressed the feeling-she was starting to miss the boy.

And it hurts. A lot.
