friends, eyeballs and baseball games

It's been a crazy time in my life. A couple weeks ago I headed to San Diego to see friends from the college era. This was the first time I spent with them living OFF campus and us doing ADULT things without fear of breaking the covenant. We sang karaoke at a gay bar, and I got hit on by a lesbian! She gave me a blue rose after I sang "Torn". It was an amazing time. I had a sense of peace and familiarity that I hadn't been able to retrieve while being away. sigh. But alas, I came home and my life changed forever. That sounds pretty dramatic, eh?

On Sunday, June 25th, I was awakened to my nephew freaking out about my Pug Chester having a bloody eye. We took him to the doggy ER and turns out Mr. Chesterbug was bitten by a dog and his left eye was ripped open. In fact, the iris was hanging out. The doc said he'd have to remove it immediately ($500 later). This is the part where I wept for my little guy. He's not even 6 months old and has one eye removed! Not to mention he was born deformed! So sad. But he's a fighter, and never once lost his appetite.

Now he has on that cone thing so he can't scratch out stitches that closed his eyelids to his left eye shut. We call it his space helmet. I've since stopped feeling sorry for him, partly because he poops everywhere. But my love for him has grown tremendously. I absolutely adore him, and so does my sister. He has captured my heart with his wandering eye. He's my "bubba".

On the grad school thing...

Last Friday I checked out my apartment on campus. It's C114 and is on the first floor (praise the Lord!). Since the layout of the space is in my head I've been obsessed with figuring out where to place things (bed, tables, etc). Also, COLORS! I can't wait to paint! This is all I could focus on this past week. Not to mention getting another job...

I applied for a sales position at a furniture store. My first interview went well, and hopefully I'll get hired on soon! It's fairly close to my grad school, pays more and offers full benefits after 3 months. Woohoo!

Wondering where baseball comes in? Well, I went to the Dodgers/Giants game today cuz of my bro's tix. I took my ex, Oliver, and while I enjoyed the game, I wish he didn't come with. He was so dull! After not seeing him for 4 months, one really notices a lot. I won't get into details, but let's just say I won't be seeing him anytime soon.

I think that's about it. Whew.
