Unmata's equine fetish piece.
In case you don't already know...I have been an equine fetishist for as long as I can remember. From the time I had my first pony at 3 years old, who was a bit of a smart ass pony...I always wanted to BE one. I knew in my little 3 and 4 year old mind, that I would make a lovely pony, and I would be spirited and loving to my rider. I don't know that those precise word formations ran through my head, but i KNEW it regardless. The thought of wanting to be a pony stayed in my mind for the rest of my life, until at about 20 years of age when I learned there was a whole section of the population that had the same thoughts. "Equine Fetishist" was the term I learned, and "Equus Eroticus" magazine was was the first publication I found that was dedicated to the subject. I learned then, that mama really was right when she said I could be ANYTHING I wanted to be when I grew up...LOL
So, I have been a pony girl off and on for just over 10 years now. I've worn the tail, though aesthetically speaking, I'd like the kind that ride high over the tailbone, like a REAL pony, as opposed to the hair hanging out of the asshole look...I've always been a realist though, in all of my art. I have a bit, and a bridle...we had a makeshift saddle for a time, but its been passed on. I've been eyeballing some beautiful pony boots from a somewhat local pony gear maker.
Anyway...I'm rambling...I got to see the pony piece that Unmata did, today for the first time. I understand that not everyone can understand or appreciate something so radical and different...and for those expecting straight up belly dance, it was hardly...but it was perfection in 11 minutes. It was a beautiful and honest depiction of the interaction between handler and pony. A gorgeous dance, spirited and loving...set to amazing music and just gorgeous pony gear. I was blown away, and it makes me incredibly sad to know that there are many who just didn't (and won't )get it like I did. I know...Different Strokes for different folks. It was mind blowing.
