December Madness
It never fails.
Every year (or often enough that I dread the season) something happens.
Who's turn is it to cry?
Who's turn is it to get completely drunk and say something inappropriate?
Who's turn is it to overreact?
Through a complicated story that I will not go into I just found out that my mother had several affairs on my father during their marriage.
Now, I already knew that my dad had the One Big Affair with his common-law wife which, to my mind, considerably helped along the demise of mom and dad's relationship 13 years ago.
But mom was the innocent. Oh ya..it takes two and my god is she crazy and who could blame him for wanting an out and fine fine fine...but HE was the coward that couldn't just call it off. Nooo...he had to lead a double life for 3 or 4 years instead until she finally just kicked him out.
And that, plus the few years of drunken depression on her part, and him completely ignoring me for the most part is THAT.
And I have come to terms with that...mostly.
And now I find out that SHE had her own affairs FIRST. WTF? This is a whole new level of fucked up. I mean, this just twists everything up. Who is this woman? This woman that I felt sorry for? This woman, that when I get mad at her for being insane, know she can't really help it cause her life has fucked her up so much and so many things have happened to her to make her crazy? Well...what if she helped that along? What if she helped to dig her own grave? There are so many What If's now. What else hasn't she told us? What else has she lead us to believe?
A friend has recently said to me, "You have the craziest family." Now I hear that a lot and that is not a problem, nor inaccurate. However, this comment came from a friend who's real father used to beat the crap out of her mother, her step-father is a creepy, nasty piece of work too and she's calling MY family crazy? And you know what? She's right. Mine is insane. As my sister put it, "You can't make this shit up." And that's why our family is weirder than the typical "Wife Beater gets chased out of house with baseball bat and then wife turns around and marries another asshole" story.
I should probably mention that the above story is only the surface story and there are whole other characters that support my Craziest Family theory. The Bald Alcoholic Aunt for one. And the Psychic Aunt. Psycho Bitch Aunt too. And lets not forget Schizophrenic Aunt.
Almost every one of my family members is a Walking Cartoon Character. They are exaggerations of themselves. Exaggerations of the real people they used to be. It makes me wonder how nuts I'm going to be when I'm in my 50's.
