florence day one

our tiny plane to seattle

on the very long flight from seattle to paris

now, the good news is that there were zero delays.  the bad news is the paris airport.  massive construction, lack of signage and direction, and the worst customer service i've ever seen.  we get off the plane and onto a bus, and this bus (after driving - badly - all over the terminal) drops us at some building where there is no counter or guidance.  when i do finally ask a guy where i might get info on my flight, which is not on the departure board, he says "i don't know".  nice, right?  we had to get another bus and drive to another terminal, but navigating is not for the faint of heart.

we weren't even seated together on the last flight, but there was nobody to talk to about it, so we just dealt with it.

it seems to be mandatory to run.  it really was, since they only post gate numbers a few minutes before take off.

that last flight started out with a dreary view

i.t improved greatly

travelling with no checked luggage is the only way to go, really.

the cab from the airport was terrifying.  very very glad that we are not driving near here.  suprisingly, the cars are not all dinged up like you would expect from the way they drive and park.

we checked in, showered, and hit the streets.

our room is not really this yellow

yes, this is from our room

as is this

getting artsy with the camera.

we have eaten.  it was good.  gelato ... pizza ... gnocchi ... wine ...  carbonara

now, it is 4:30.  all the mosquitoes in florence have found tj.  in the 10 minutes that i had the window open.  poor honey.  she's actually reviewing the phrase book as i type this.

pics, italy, adventures
