Character

Name: Dilandau Albatou
Fandom: Vision of Escflowne (Movie)
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Time Period: Mid point when Folken was torturing him.
Wing Color: Firey red
History:
Not much is known about Dilandau's past as well as his early childhood. The only small peek we get to see is during the time that Folken tortured him for disobeying orders. It was during this scene at the moment when Folken begins to question Dilandau on his past that we get that glimpse. Even though it was just two short and simple questions we get that small glimpse: Who was it that 'saved' him from wild dogs and who was it that gave him his Dragonslayers.

From those two questions we can gather that Folken was the one that found Dilandau as a child and that he was living among either a clan of dog people or among a pack of wild dogs. Dilandau was taken away from his previous guardians and Folken proceeded to raise/train him to become his perfect solider for the Black Dragon Clan. Once his training was completed and he proved his worth to Folken, he was granted his own troop of men, the Dragonslayers. Through various battles and victories, he made his up to becoming a general for the Black Dragon Clan.

When Dilandau first appears in the movie we see that not only was he a not only a general but almost Folken's right hand man. He was given the order to perform a feint operation to capture the Wing Goddess from the Abaharaki. An order that Jajuka reminded him of but Dilandau would not hear his words, but instead went for an all out attack. His recklessness and blood lust cost him not only the only chance to capture the Wing Goddess from the Abaharaki but also the life of one of his Dragonslayers as the Wing Goddess was taken away from the battle.

Dilandau pursued the sight of the retreating Wing Goddess to some lava flats. It was there that he saw the face of the one that brought about his first defeat, his first humiliation and became one of his very first obsessions next to fire: Van Fanel, the King of the Dragon Clan. That one encounter spark the obsession within Dilandau to become stronger, to gain more power and to gain a pair of wings of his own to rival Van's. Each point of the obsession is nailed in more and more as Folken tortures Dilandau for his direct disobedience of his orders, questioning the half-breed of his worth and loyalty. It was here, that his world became dark as he was taken to Luceti.

Personality:

The first thing that a person might notice about Dildandau is his love for battle and blood. His whole life and being is defined by fighting. The sight of fire and the smell of blood from the fallen soldiers give him life. He longs for battle as well as and every one-on-one fight to the point that he would provoke fights and battles on his own as long as he knows he can get away with it. His love of fighting might contribute to the fact that he is also very cocky and is sure that he will always when no matter what and if he doesn't win he will just have to destroy and burn everything contributed to the object/person. One last trait that comes from his battle lust is that he has a tendency to see those who have been conquered as beneath him. They are no longer people but objects to be used for his every whim and desire.

Burning and destroying object/people he doesn't like contributes to another trait of his, which is that he is a pyromaniac in every definition of the word. Dildandau loves fires and setting things on fire as well as watching things burn gives him pleasure that no words can properly describe. Fire has a double-sided effect on him. On one hand, it gets him excited to the point of him not thinking clearly and he starts to act upon the high that fire gives him. On the other hand, it can completely calm him down to the point that he would appear 'stoned' and it would make him almost passive as he can possibly get. But these two states can switch upon a drop of a hat or he could become more violent at a moment's notice.

This bring us to another point or trait to his personality, Dildandau's insanity. Just about anything can set him off and his bursts of insanity can range from fits of screaming, violence to delusion and hallucinations. This however causes him to have a clingy nature to his Dragonslayers(as they are the only ones who has seen him in a state of mind that could make him pass off as a normal person) as he is very if not exterminely emotionally dependent upon them. His clingy nature isn't shown in the normal way that a clingy person would show it. He just has to be near or around them at all times, within either hearing distance or being able to see them. Pray for the poor sap that decides to mess with one of his Dragonslayers as despite putting on an apathetic front when talking about their deaths, he does whatever he can to avenge the death and/or abuse that didn't come from him.

Dildanau is abusive towards those that are close to him and to just about everybody but the closer the person is to him the more abusive he gets towards them. This is mainly due is that he just doesn't know and understand any other form of affection. He is also very vain and if anyone weather be it man/woman/child/creature damages his looks, he will hunt them down with a restlessness that really cannot be describe and won't stop until that other person is dead, features mangled beyond recognition and burned.

Strengths:

PHYSICAL:
Due to being half-dragon, Dilandau is a little bit stronger, faster and take more of a beating then a normal human. He also has what the people of Gaea likes to call, 'magical powers', which is a form of telekinesis manifested as green wind. But try to fitting his personality his dragon powers tends to destroy objects and people in it's path (shown here starting at 6:00 in and ends at 6:35ish). Also should any dragon armor appear that isn't Escaflowne, only Dildandau's blood can awaken it.

He is also a expert swordsman as well as an expert at horse riding as it shows him riding into battle, being able to still fight on his own against his enemies on both a horse and on his own two feet.

MENTAL: The only thing that he is mentally strong at is that whenever he is having a clear moment in his insanity, he is clever and can be a good leader when he needs to be. But that is only when his mental state is clear. This state is usually achieved with either a Dragonslayer around, lots of fire or when he had a few glasses of wine.

EMOTIONAL: His pride is probably his strongest emotion next to his vanity. He takes great pride in everything he does and nothing except for being defeated by Van has hurt his pride. This is mainly because anyone that has come close to hurting it was found dead and/or burned alive.

Weaknesses:

PHYSICAL:
Dilandau doesn't have any real physical weakness as shown in the movie. The only thing it has shown is that he can't really fight one-on-one with a pure dragon without it being weakened first. He can die just as easily as any other normal person.

MENTAL: He is insane, and because of that, he is very much mentally unstable and anything can cause him to lash out. Another trait is that because he is mentally unstable, he tends not to think things through in the heat of the moment, ignoring any and all consequences for his actions. This has led to the death of one of the Dragonslayers in the first battle you see him in.

EMOTIONAL: He cannot stand being alone or without his Dragonslayers nearby. He has to have them around him nearly at all times in order to function normally as he is very emotional dependent on them. This being said all he really needs is just one of them at his side is order to function normally but even without them, he can and will find another person to take on this role.

First Person: Q&A please.

Third Person:
Extreme pain and floating in the air. There was also the feeling of a hand closing tightly around his neck despite there being no hand there was all that he can remember before darkness hits and the swiftness of unconiousness overcoming him.

Darkness uneasy and unsettling darkness.

Red eyes slowly goes to open at the feeling of a cool breeze moving across his bare skin. It felt nice and very welcomed but something wasn't right about this. Dilandau quickly snaps his eyes open leaping into a crouching position as it has dawned about him that he wasn't where he last remembered being. The scent and sounds and the feel of the breeze wasn't familiar at all to the half-dragon.

"Where?..." Was at first the only soft-spoken word that comes from those pale lips before his voices goes to take on a growling tone as he raises his voice to start yelling.

"CHESTA! JAJUKA! MIGEL! RYUON! LINE UP!" No answer, just the soft whisper of the breeze was all that Dilandau received for his answer.

A mix feeling of dread and panic quickly falls over him as he cannot hear one voice or feel any of his Dragonslayers presense. His heart starts to beat faster and faster as he waits for anything before screaming out in desperation.

"CHESTA! JAJUKA!" A hopeful pause but still no answer as now his cries start to becoming more and more desperate. "MIGEEEL! RYUOOOON!"

Nothing as once more the only sound that greets his ear is the soft whisper of the breeze and the sound of the leaves rustling in the trees above and around him. Dilandau falls to his knees, whimpering, as the realizaition hits that he was alone in this strange place without his Dragonslayers.

He jumps a little as his hand touches a familar fabric and those red eyes looks down at his side, folded ever so neatly was his armor and general uniform. His mind numb and with now trembling hands, he puts on the undershirt and just drapes the coat over his shoulders, holding the rest of his clothes closely to himself. Dilandau felt like a little lost child as he forces himself to stand up and explore his surroundings.

A fleeting thought passes through his mind. What if? Just what if they are here and they are just being held out shouting range? If that is the case then there is no excuse for not responding to him. With determination and new life in those red eyes, Dilandau goes to finish getting dressed with his armor on and marches the first welcoming sound he has heard since his arrival. The sound of life within a village and they better be there or else.
