Now that we have internet I have been watching a lot more tv online. A grand tradition I plan to carry on in my adult life where the investment in a television seems only worthwhile based on picture size. In my internet viewing experience the site SurftheChannel has links to pretty much any show you would ever want to watch. Often, the best quality links are to Megavideo. The incredibly annoying thing about Megavideo is that you can only watch 74 minutes of video at a time. Normally that is not a big problem for me. However, I have found this summer that I have been getting my time's up warning after only 10 minutes of show. This just happened to me, and damnit, I know there's some tech-saavy-at-risk-youth out there who have cracked Megavideo and their reign of 74 minute tyranny.
Some of the hacks were very complicated. I haven't tried this one yet, but assuming it works it looks like a pretty sweet solution:
Mega Video has converted to a pay site, where in order to enjoy full use of the site would require a monthly subscription fee, and without paying this fee, you would only be allowed around 78 minutes of time before you would be cut off. Ffollow these simple steps, and you will have full access to Mega Video …. enjoy the movies!….
1. Choose a MegaVideo Movie or Show to watch, Choose Multiple if you like.
2. Start the video or videos and pause them once they start to Buffer.
3. Wait until Video or Videos reach 100% Buffered.
4. When finished buffering go to File on Your Browser Menu Bar and go down and choose Work Offline.
5. Now You can Watch all the Movie or Movies you Have 100% Buffered.
6. Remember to go back and deselect Work Offline when you are ready for another Movie or want to Browse the Web again.”
