For the Sake of Continuity

I spent break at the home of one of my housemates in good old suburban Virginia.  It was a fabulous break.  We would get up late, watch tv, eat cheetos and bagel bites, watch Twin Peaks, and on particularly ambitious days we drove out to find shopping entertainments.  I did absolutely none of my homework and very little of my searching for job/internship for the summer stuff.

I am not sure what I am going to do for the summer.  There are two, maybe three, options.

Option 1:  Return to Albuquerque.  Easiest, cheapest.  I found a large list of interesting internships on the UNM English department's website.  I've also already received a number of requests for housesitting.  If I can find a place to live which is not my parent's house it looks like I could fluff my resume AND bring home some bacon AND have a great time chillin' with mah homeskillets.   I think I might also take a TVI class on web design, because in my internship searching that seems the place to be for interesting entry level positions.

Option 2:  Live in Seattle.  Must buy plane ticket, and live at friend's parent's house.  However, living for free in one of Seattle's schfanciest districts is not to be snuffed at.  Finding job is also probably easier.  I am applying to several internships (found through UW's English department site) including one at Fantagraphics.  Likelihood of bringing home some bacon is problematic.  More paying jobs, but none that are guaranteed such as housesitting.  Plus side, far far far away from the parents and opportunity to be grown up independent person who does interesting and spontaneous things.

I suppose the easiest thing to do is to go wherever the best offer is.  The other thing keeping me in Burque is that I would really like to take a roadtrip and drive a car up to Oberlin for the school year.  This will require cash and a car.  Considering that the car will probably be about 20 years old, there will also have to be some serious maintenance checking.  After looking this over it seems that Burque is the better bet.  I just worry that I would be missing out on an opportunity for serious personal growth or something by not taking advantage of going somewhere new and exciting.
