So I am officially in my late 20s. I want to thank everyone who called, emailed or posted on Facebook, Friendster or MySpace to wish me a happy birthday. I am truly, truly grateful for your friendship.
Praise the Lord. Indeed, it was a happy birthday. We woke up and snuggled in bed to stay warm (all three of us), and then Booger made me some stuffed pain perdu for breakfast. It was quite yummy. God answered my prayer and allowed the sun to shine a little brighter so that it was warm enough to take Mattie to Disneyland for the first time. It was a successful trip, with the little one fixated on all the sights and sounds he could possibly take in. A little Chinese food, a little cake, and it was a good day.
Saturday morning, Booger and I drove to Vegas for my boss's birthday. First time I ever drove across state lines, woo hoo! I must admit that I was impressed with the enormity and grandeur of the casinos... until I walked into them (side note: NEVER stay at the Stratosphere - it sucks). It was just really smoky in there, but it doesn't compare to the Indian casinos here in California. I will just say that dinner was rowdy and crazy, and all my co-workers need Jesus. I am extremely glad that I didn't have to go to the "show." Who knows how much worse those girls would have been... To further emphasize how horrible the Stratosphere is, we didn't even stay the night. Booger suggested we drive home that night and he did, and we got home at 4 am. Sleep never felt so good.
So a friend told me that I would have an incredible 28th year, and I've been thinking about that on and off. Everything I have today is given to me by the grace of God. I am nothing without Him. My hope is that I would be a willing vessel that He can use. I look forward to growing in the knowledge and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
